Can You Get a Breast Lift With Implants?

Let’s talk about breast implants with a lift.

First of all, is it possible? Getting breast implants at the same time as your lift is totally possible and pretty common. In fact, many women opt to do the procedures at the same time to save on costs and recovery time. Talk about a two-for-one!

Another reason women choose to have an augmentation mastopexy procedure, aka a lift and implants done at the same time, is that a breast lift and breast implants do different things.

A breast lift is used for:

  • Removing excess skin
  • Addressing areola placement
  • Reshaping the breasts
  • Relocating the breast tissue on the chest wall

While breast implants, on the other hand, are used for:

  • Increasing breast size
  • Adding volume
  • Increasing upper pole fullness

Lots of women find their breasts sagging from damaged skin as well as lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, and even simply aging. And their aesthetic goals often include breast enhancement that includes both size and shape.

That’s where the breast lift with implants comes in.

How is a breast lift done with implants?

Your plastic surgeon will walk you through your surgical plan during your one-on-one consultation based on your wish pictures and anatomy.

On the day of surgery, you’ll be placed under general anesthesia. Your surgeon will make an incision that encircles the areola, goes down the front of your breast, and in some cases along the breast crease. From there, they’ll remove excess breast skin and insert the implant.

They’ll finish the surgery and lift by closing the incisions. And voila! Your breast lift with breast implants is complete!

Of course, this is an overview and doesn’t include every single step. But if you have questions about the procedure, operating time, or specifics, be empowered to ask your surgeon during your consultation or hop in the Bustmob ‘Ask a Surgeon’ Community to connect with a plastic surgeon from Amelia Aesthetics.

Can you get a breast lift with existing implants?

Yes! You can have a breast lift with existing implants and we hear about it all of the time in the Bustmob Community.

Whether it’s from breastfeeding a little one or simply gravity over time, it’s not uncommon for women to find themselves interested in a lift down the road. Hey, our bodies change and that’s okay!

Another little perk is as long as there is nothing wrong with your implants, like capsular contracture or a rupture, your surgeon can even use your current implants if you’d like.

However, if you want to change your size, profile, brand, or type, an implant exchange with your lift is also possible.

Do I need a breast lift with implants?

So how do you know if you’d like implants with your lift? It all really depends on your goals.

Technically, nobody “needs” implants. However, for a lot of people, implants are the only way to help them achieve their aesthetic goals. As we’ve mentioned, breast lifts address nipple placement and breast shape, while implants increase breast volume.

If you’re happy with your amount of breast tissue and size, but concerned with damaged skin or sagging breasts, a lift alone may be perfect for you. But if you’re concerned with loose skin and would like to add volume, breast implants with your lift may be the move.

The good news is, you don’t have to guess. The Bustmob GoalFinder is home to thousands of breast lift with breast implants after photos.

You can search by your stats like height, weight, and complexion to see what a lift, implant, or a combination of the two looks like on a frame similar to yours.

How long is recovery for a breast lift with implants?

The downtime for a breast lift with augmentation is around 7-10 days.

Of course, each surgeon has their own protocol, but most will have limitations for the first 6 weeks post-op like:

  • No lifting
  • No submerging in water
  • Keeping your scar tape on for 6 weeks, changing at the 3-week mark.

Recovery can be a little more painful than just a breast augmentation with implants because you’re removing skin, which means a bigger incision and a little more downtime.

But milestones like “drop and fluff” will be around the same, 6-9 months, and you’ll see those beautiful final results around 12 months post-op.

How much is a breast lift with implants?

A breast lift with implants at Amelia Aesthetics is between $15,000 and $16,000, including anesthesia, operating time, surgeon fees, and doctor’s visits. Of course, your total cost will depend on your location, surgeon, and your unique procedure and needs.
