Will everyone know I have breast implants?
We’ve gotten to dispel this rumor more than once in the Bustmob Community, a safe space created by and for women who are considering or who have had plastic surgery. Whether your breast implants look natural or not is totally up to you.
Some women are going for an augmented look and in those cases, yes, it’s intentionally obvious that she has breast implants. However, there are plenty of women wanting a natural look and you would never know she’s had a breast augmentation.
Breast implants are really customizable, which leaves you with lots of choices to make:
Based on your anatomy and goals, your board-certified plastic surgeon can provide guidance on what will be best for you, but it’s important to have an idea of what you’re going for and basic knowledge of breast implants and breast augmentation.
Before you get overwhelmed, the free Bustmob Acadamy app has a video on each choice so you can be ready for your plastic surgery consultation.
Worried about breast augmentation scars?
The truth is there is no such thing as scarless breast augmentation surgery. However, take a little comfort in knowing that for most women, their scars can be hidden in even the tiniest bathing suit.
The most common incision is the crease or inframammary incision which is between 1-2 inches long. It takes about 12 months post-op for those scars to heal fully, but for most women with proper scar care, after about a year their scars have faded to be hardly noticeable.
At Amelia Aesthetics, the plastic surgeons will give you detailed scar protocol and tips to help minimize scarring. But each plastic surgery practice is different so be sure to talk to your plastic surgeon about their unique scar and recovery protocol.

Yeah, but can breast implants feel natural, too?
We’ve talked about a natural look, but what about the feel? Actually, breast implants can feel very much like natural breast tissue depending on the type of implant you choose.
There are two types of breast implants:
- Saline breast implants
- Silicone breast implants
Both types have silicone shells but differ in filling. Saline implants are filled with a sterile saline solution and silicone implants are filled with silicone.
The newest fifth-generation silicone breast implants, also known as gummy bear implants, are filled with a cohesive silicone gel that feels the most like natural breast tissue. Saline implants tend to feel firmer in the body and therefore feel less natural than gummy bear breast implants.
You can learn more about the differences between saline and silicone breast implants in the free Bustmob Academy app.
Being prepared for your consultation is important, but where do I start?
As we mentioned before, knowing the basics of breast augmentation and implants is going to help put you in the driver’s seat during your consultation. Doing some research ahead of time will give you and the surgeon more time to discuss your unique risks and benefits and your surgical plan.
During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will ask you about your goals–for some, this may be augmented, and for others a natural look.
Using your goal photos or wish pictures as a guide, your plastic surgeon will suggest the type of breast implant, profile, and placement, along with all of the other surgical details, to help you get to your aesthetic goals.
These pictures are incredibly helpful in removing the language and vague descriptions of your goals. Instead, you can show your surgeon exactly what you’re hoping for.
The Bustmob GoalFinder is a free resource with thousands of plastic surgery after photos from real women.
You can search the database by patient stats like height and weight, along with implant type, size, placement, implant brands, profile, and more. Seeing breast implants on a frame that matches yours can give you an idea of what you love and don’t.
Save your favorites to a personalized collection so your wish pictures are organized.
Augmented or natural, your look is totally up to you! There’s no wrong or right look for a breast augmentation. It’s all about you and your goals.
So regardless of if you want two globes or two slopes, breast implants are an excellent way to add more volume and shape to the breasts.
Be sure to have those GoalFinder photos ready and your research done before your consultation so the time with your surgeon is focused on you and your goals.
